August News!

A hunting gal & her jeep!

August Update!

The weather in Texas has been crazy this past month, but thankfully we dodged Hurricane Dolly & Tropical Storm Edouard only brought lots of rain to our area. We were grateful for the rain Dolly dumped on our lease in south Texas, and while it didn’t bring us out of drought conditions it did help the grass grow just in time for our fawns to drop with an ample amount of cover. Edouard passed directly over us at home, but did not do any damage. Besides watching systems form in the Gulf, I’ve been busy getting the kids ready to go back to school. We’ve already hit the mall for clothes, Wal-Mart for school supplies and I must say I am about shopped out! Our oldest kicked off his 4th and final season of Pee-Wee football two weeks ago and he is in full pads practicing in the hot Texas sun! Gotta love it! I sent my middle daughter off to church camp this week and after a few tears she & I said “Goodbye” for a week…I know she will have a ball. I didn’t make the ranch (lease) trip last weekend with my husband & son…I was too busy doing all my “Mom” duties. I told them to be sure and bring back some pictures from the Reconyx trail cams we put out the last time we were down. I couldn’t wait to go through all the photos and see what we had captured! I smiled when I saw a doe nursing her fawn. I guess the does on our place are taking care of “Mom” duties too! I was really excited about the pics that had the two of them in it…Mike and I talked about it and we don’t recall ever having a doe and a fawn in the same image on a trail cam photo. Another interesting picture the Reconyx captured was a doe inside the water tank…the thermometer reads 104 ° …I guess she needed a break from the hot Texas sun! Bow season kicks off here in Texas on September 27th…Mike and I will be in south Texas that weekend! I'll have my Lady Dream Season suit on & be ready to roll…now the big question…who is up to bat? Maybe this hunting gal can talk him into being a gentleman and letting me go first!
