It's a wrap!!

What a great hunting season! I don't think I could have asked for a better year in the outdoors. We finished up deer season in Mississippi hunting Tara Wildlife. I put a buck on the ground the final day of the MS hunting season! Mike & I also finished filming ScentBlocker & Drury Outdoors Dream Season Redemption (Season 6). The show will air this summer on the Outdoor Channel- be sure to tune in! It has been a wonderful experience to be a ScentBlocker Lady this year & I want to thank Robinson Outdoors for including me as part of the team! Good luck to all you guys & gals in the woods! Be safe and enjoy!!

Happy New Year!

We had a nice Christmas at the McFerrin house in Houston and spent the week after at our ranch in south Texas! Every year the day after Christmas, we load up the kids & dogs, make the 4 ½ hour drive to our home away from home, and prepare to ring in the New Year hunting and catching up on much needed rest and relaxation! This year was a bit different because we allowed our kids to bring a friend along. We had three extra kids for the entire week –six kids total, and this gal was worn out when it was all said and done! All three friends of the kids wanted to hunt, and only one of the three had hunted in the past! Mike & I were excited about the opportunity to share the outdoors with the new-comers… Cody, Emily & Tanner.

MaKenna & Georgia-Kate’s friend, Emily, started off with a doe harvest on New Year’s Eve. She was extremely excited about her first hunting adventure & was so proud of her doe! Way to go girl! Our youngest followed up the next day & shot a buck we now call “The New Year’s Day Buck”-Mike and I are proud of her and truly believe she started the New Year off right!

Emily & Georgia-Kate

After the girls harvested their deer, the boys started getting a little bit antsy! They couldn’t wait to have the opportunity to hunt, and as luck would have it both Cody and Tanner harvested a doe on the same day! Way to go boys…both families have meat in the fridge!

Tanner & Cody

Finally, I want to congratulate both of my brothers on their monster bucks this year!
Way to go Tracy & Michael-your hunting sis is very proud!

Mike's south Texas buck! 2008

Mike and I had the opportunity to run down to the ranch for a quick weekend trip and low and behold he arrowed a beautiful 148" inch buck with his bow! Gotta love a mature south Texas buck! Congratulations Mike!!! Look for this hunt on the Outdoor Channel summer '09...Drury Outdoors and ScentBlocker's Dream Season "Redemption"-Team Texas might just redeem themselves!!

Thanksgiving 2008

MaKenna in her Lady Dream Season suit...that's what I'm talking about!!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for the McFerrin family! Every year we head down to the ranch in south Texas for a week-we hunt, relax, eat, laugh and make memories! I will always remember this Thanksgiving because my middle daughter, MaKenna(who turned 11 years old this month),shot her first buck with a bow. MaKenna and Mike hunted hard and luckily for her she harvested an awesome buck two days after Thanksgiving...she has a lot to be thankful for! We have been busy filming for Dream Season "Redemption" this season and have traveled quite a bit-so it was nice to be home in Texas, hunting with the kids and just enjoying some quality family time...
Way to go MaKenna!!!

Football Fun!

MaKenna & Mike at a chilly November game!

Christian waiting to go in...

Mom & Dad...enjoying the game!

Over the last four years Mike & I have become good at juggling our oldest's football games and our crazy hunting schedule! We have enjoyed watching him grow and mature while playing league ball. This is his final year in Pee-wee and next year he will play in school athletics.

Mike's Iowa Buck!

Mike and I were so excited about our first Iowa hunt! We stayed with Mark Drury for a week and hunted his farm and did we ever have fun! We arrived in Iowa and on the first day of our hunt, the weather was unseasonably warm. A nasty cold front blew in the next day and this southern gal was freezing! We hunted in rain & snow and at times the wind was gusting up to 30 mph! I was unable to harvest a buck, but Mike arrowed a beautiful 8 point! Fun times!!

Christian's 2nd Bow Buck!

What could be better that shooting the largest buck to date with my bow on opening morning in south Texas? My son, Christian, shooting his 2nd buck with a bow the day after me! Christian made a fabulous shot on this mature south Texas buck and I am very proud of him...Congratulations buddy!
